Over Rev! Think Initial D, but with plenty of cute girl drivers, moronic guy drivers and lots of humour. ^__^ Katsumi Yamaguchi's manga on Japanese street racing has a pretty good storyline, and cute artwork. The cars featured in the manga are a varied lot, from Civics and Silvias to Skyline GT-Rs and MR2s .
The main character of the manga series is Ryouko Shino, a senior high school student, who like many her age, is fascinated by the local drifting and street racing scene. One night she sees a female driver whom she thinks is cool; she finally gets to meet the driver, thanks to her friend Tooru. She then introduces herself and finds that the driver she admires is called Sawako Morita. Sawako then offers to teach Ryouko how to drift, and Ryouko eagerly jumps at the chance... but let's just say her drift debut was rather, um - 'unique' - and not to mention downright hilarious. ^^; If you want to know, buy the manga - I'm not gonna spoil it for you.
The story then goes on with Ryouko getting an MR2 and a driver's licence; (and that was pretty funny as well!) she then goes to tell Sawako of the good news. Both of them bump into Tooru and his elder brother Takao; all of them go off cruising, Sawako letting Ryouko drive her car while Takao and Tooru ride in Takao's GT-R. A Civic EG-6 SiR then appears and goes off to overtake both cars; its driver then challenges Sawako to a race.
